How to Light Fireworks of Twitter Engagement
I've spent countless hours going through my tweets to find effective strategies for high engagement rates.
My work week often starts in Twitter analytics where I look for trends that can reveal powerful strategies and best practices.
Of course, writing effective tweets can't be and isn't the entire strategy, but it's important.
My goal is always to create brand loyalty among fans and form meaningful relationships with my audience, not just grow the following. After all, a large following really isn't worth much, if no one cares to listen or interact with you.
I work towards that goal by thinking of Twitter, and all other social media platforms, as a two-way communicative stream. I keep in mind that it's a conversation, not an advertisement platform, when I craft content.
Here are a few simple guidelines I follow for consistent growth and high engagement rates on Twitter:
>> Treat it like a conversation. Ask questions that spark responses from your audience. It's a bit like attending a party with strangers; if you're only talking about yourself, most people will be turned off.
>> Re-share what works. Why rewrite something that's worked well in the past? Look through Twitter analytics and reuse tweets that have performed well. Look for trends in your most successful tweet and use those concepts going forward.
>> Use eye-opening headlines. Copywriters work hard to get your attention; take advantage of that by using their headlines in your tweets.
